We study the asymptotic equidistribution of points with discrete energy close to Robin’s constant of a compact set in the plane. Our main tools are the energy estimates from potential theory. We also consider the quantitative aspects of this equidistribution. Applications include estimates of growth for the Fekete and Leja polynomials associated with large classes of compact sets, convergence rates of the discrete energy approximations to Robin’s constant, and problems on the means of zeros of polynomials with integer coefficients.

New spaces of Lipschitz type on metric-measure spaces are introduced and they are shown to be just the well-known Besov spaces or Triebel–Lizorkin spaces when the smooth index is less than 1. These theorems also hold in the setting of spaces of homogeneous type, which include Euclidean spaces, Riemannian manifolds and some self-similar fractals. Moreover, the relationships amongst these Lipschitz-type spaces, Hajłasz–Sobolev spaces, Korevaar–Schoen–Sobolev spaces, Newtonian Sobolev space and Cheeger–Sobolev spaces on metric-measure spaces are clarified, showing that they are the same space with equivalence of norms. Furthermore, a Sobolev embedding theorem, namely that the Lipschitz-type spaces with large orders of smoothness can be embedded in Lipschitz spaces, is proved. For metric-measure spaces with heat kernels, a Hardy–Littlewood–Sobolev theorem is establish, and hence it is proved that Lipschitz-type spaces with small orders of smoothness can be embedded in Lebesgue spaces.

In our previous paper “The primes contain arbitrarily long polynomial progressions” [$Acta Math$., 201 (2008), 213–305] there were some minor errors in our definition of the polynomial forms and polynomial correlation conditions, which is unreasonably strong as written due to the overly loose bound on the degree of the polynomials involved. In this erratum we repair this issue by capping the degree of the polynomials more strongly, and adjusting some other relevant components of the argument accordingly.

This paper introduces a new concept, the quasi-range-preserving operator, and gives necessary and sufficient conditions for a linear operator to be quasi-range-preserving. As a special case Glicksberg's problem is affirmatively answered.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the problem of finding a common element of the set of fixed points <i>F</i>(<i>S</i>) of a nonexpansive mapping <i>S</i> and the set of solutions _<i>A</i> of the variational inequality for a monotone, Lipschitz continuous mapping <i>A</i>. We introduce a hybrid extragradient-like approximation method which is based on the well-known extragradient method and a hybrid (or outer approximation) method. The method produces three sequences which are shown to converge strongly to the same common element of {F(S)\cap\Omega_{A}}. As applications, the method provides an algorithm for finding the common fixed point of a nonexpansive mapping and a pseudocontractive mapping, or a common zero of a monotone Lipschitz continuous mapping and a maximal monotone mapping.
