The purpose of this paper is to investigate the problem of finding a common element of the set of fixed points <i>F</i>(<i>S</i>) of a nonexpansive mapping <i>S</i> and the set of solutions _<i>A</i> of the variational inequality for a monotone, Lipschitz continuous mapping <i>A</i>. We introduce a hybrid extragradient-like approximation method which is based on the well-known extragradient method and a hybrid (or outer approximation) method. The method produces three sequences which are shown to converge strongly to the same common element of {F(S)\cap\Omega_{A}}. As applications, the method provides an algorithm for finding the common fixed point of a nonexpansive mapping and a pseudocontractive mapping, or a common zero of a monotone Lipschitz continuous mapping and a maximal monotone mapping.

Assume that <i>F</i> is a nonlinear operator on a real Hilbert space <i>H</i> which is -strongly monotone and -Lipschitzian on a nonempty closed convex subset <i>C</i> of <i>H</i>. Assume also that <i>C</i> is the intersection of the fixed-point sets of a finite number of nonexpansive mappings on <i>H</i>. We construct an iterative algorithm with variable parameters which generates a sequence {<i>x</i> _<i>n</i>} from an arbitrary initial point <i>x</i> ₀ <i>H</i>. The sequence {<i>x</i> _<i>n</i>} is shown to converge in norm to the unique solution <i>u</i>  of the variational inequality

We look for bounded periodic solutions for a parametric fractional problem involving a continuous nonlinearity with subcritical growth. By using a variant of Caffarelli and Silvestre extension method adapted to the periodic case and variational tools we prove the existence of at least three bounded periodic solutions when the parameter varies in an appropriate range.

In this paper, using the concept of attractive points of a nonlinear mapping, we obtain a strong convergence theorem of Halperns type [<i>Bull. Amer. Math. Soc</i>. <b>73</b> (1967), 957961] for a wide class of nonlinear mappings which contains nonexpansive mappings, nonspreading mappings and hybrid mappings in a Hilbert space. Using this result, we obtain well-known and new strong convergence theorems of Halperns type in a Hilbert space. In particular, we solve a problem posed by Kurokawa and Takahashi [<i>Nonlinear Anal</i>. <b>73</b> (2010, 15621568].

Abstract Let T: V W be a surjective real linear isometry between full real Hilbert C-modules over real C-algebras A and B, respectively. We show that the following conditions are equivalent:(a) T is a 2-isometry;(b) T is a complete isometry;(c) T preserves ternary products;(d) T preserves inner products;(e) T is a module map. When A and B are commutative, we give a full description of the structure of T.
