The classical Minkowski formula is extended to spacelike codimension-two submanifolds in spacetimes which admit "hidden symmetry" from conformal Killing-Yano two-forms. As an application, we obtain an Alexandrov type theorem for spacelike codimension-two submanifolds in a static spherically symmetric spacetime: a codimension-two submanifold with constant normalized null expansion (null mean curvature) must lie in a shear-free (umbilical) null hypersurface. These results are generalized for higher order curvature invariants. In particular, the notion of mixed higher order mean curvature is introduced to highlight the special null geometry of the submanifold. Finally, Alexandrov type theorems are established for spacelike submanifolds with constant mixed higher order mean curvature, which are generalizations of hypersurfaces of constant Weingarten curvature in the Euclidean space.

The first author has associated in a natural way a profinite group to each irreducible subshift. The group in question was initially obtained as a maximal subgroup of a free profinite semigroup. In the case of minimal subshifts, the same group is shown in the present paper to also arise from geometric considerations involving the Rauzy graphs of the subshift. Indeed, the group is shown to be isomorphic to the inverse limit of the profinite completions of the fundamental groups of the Rauzy graphs of the subshift. A further result involving geometric arguments on Rauzy graphs is a criterion for freeness of the profinite group of a minimal subshift based on the Return Theorem of Berthé et al.

The action of the mapping class group of the thrice-punctured projective plane on its GL(2,C) character variety produces an algorithm for generating the simple length spectra of quasi-Fuchsian thrice-punctured projective planes. We apply this algorithm to quasi-Fuchsian representations of the corresponding fundamental group to prove: a sharp upper-bound for the length its shortest geodesic, a McShane identity and the surprising result of non-polynomial growth for the number of simple closed geodesic lengths.

We construct SYZ mirrors of the local Calabi--Yau manifolds of type $\widetilde{A}$ by developing an equivariant SYZ theory for the toric Calabi--Yau manifolds of infinite-type. The equations for the SYZ mirrors involve the Riemann theta functions and generating functions of the open Gromov--Witten invariants. We obtain explicit formulae for the generating functions which are open analogs of the Yau--Zaslow formula in dimension $2$, and show that they have nice modular properties. We also relate the SYZ mirror pairs with mirror symmetry for the abelian varieties and hypersurfaces therein.

We consider the asymptotics of the Turaev-Viro and the Reshetikhin-Turaev invariants of a hyperbolic $3$-manifold, evaluated at the root of unity $exp(2\pi\sqrt{-1}/r)$ instead of the standard $exp(\pi\sqrt{-1}/r)$. We present evidence that, as $r$ tends to $\infty$, these invariants grow exponentially with growth rates respectively given by the hyperbolic and the complex volume of the manifold. This reveals an asymptotic behavior that is different from that of Witten's Asymptotic Expansion Conjecture, which predicts polynomial growth of these invariants when evaluated at the standard root of unity. This new phenomenon suggests that the Reshetikhin-Turaev invariants may have a geometric interpretation other than the original one via $SU(2)$ Chern-Simons gauge theory.
