We study the structures of Fourier coefficients of automorphic forms on symplectic groups based on their local and global structures related to Arthur parameters. This is a first step towards the general conjecture on the relation between the structure of Fourier coefficients and Arthur parameters for automorphic forms occurring in the discrete spectrum, given by the first named author.

We study the general problem of equidistribution of expanding translates of an analytic curve by an algebraic diagonal flow on the homogeneous space of a semisimple algebraic group G. We define two families of algebraic subvarieties of the associated partial flag variety, which give the obstructions to non-divergence and equidistribution. We apply this to prove that for Lebesgue almost every point on an analytic curve in the space of m × n real matrices whose image is not contained in any subvariety coming from these two families, Dirichlet’s theorem on simultaneous Diophantine approximation cannot be improved. The proof combines geometric invariant theory, Ratner’s theorem on measure rigidity for unipotent flows, and linearization technique.

Let N be a fixed integer and f be a holomorphic newform of level q⁠, weight k and trivial nebentypus, where q is a multiple of N⁠. In this article, we prove that the pushforward to the modular curve of level N of the mass measure of f tends weakly to the Haar measure as qk→∞⁠. This generalizes the previous results for modular curve of level 1. The main innovation of this article is to obtain an upper bound for the local integral which cancels the convexity bound of the corresponding L-function in level aspect.
