In this paper, we analyze the uniqueness of the sparse time frequency decomposition and investigate the eciency of the nonlinear matching pursuit method. Under the assumption of scale separation, we show that the sparse time frequency decomposition is unique up to an error that is determined by the scale separation property of the signal. We further show that the unique decomposition can be obtained approximately by the sparse time frequency decomposition using nonlinear matching pursuit.

We study the super-resolution (SR) problem of recovering point sources consisting of a collection of isolated and suitably separated spikes from only the low frequency measurements. If the peak separation is above a factor in (1,2) of the Rayleigh length (physical resolution limit), L 1 minimization is guaranteed to recover such sparse signals. However, below such critical length scale, especially the Rayleigh length, the L 1 certificate no longer exists. We show several local properties (local minimum, directional stationarity, and sparsity) of the limit points of minimizing two L 1 based nonconvex penalties, the difference of L 1 and L 1 norms ( L 1 ) and capped L 1 (C L 1 ), subject to the measurement constraints. In this paper, we present an adaptive, analysis of variance (ANOVA)-based data-driven stochastic method (ANOVA-DSM) to study the stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) in the multi-query setting. Our new method integrates the advantages of both the adaptive ANOVA decomposition technique and the data-driven stochastic method. To handle high-dimensional stochastic problems, we investigate the use of adaptive ANOVA decomposition in the stochastic space as an effective dimension-reduction technique. To improve the slow convergence of the generalized polynomial chaos (gPC) method or stochastic collocation (SC) method, we adopt the data-driven stochastic method (DSM) for speed up. An essential ingredient of the DSM is to construct a set of stochastic basis under which the stochastic solutions enjoy a compact representation for a broad range of forcing functions and/or boundary conditions

In this paper, we apply local discontinuous Galerkin methods to the compressible wormhole propagation. Optimal error estimates for the pressure, velocity, porosity and concentration in different norms are established on non-uniform grids. Numerical experiments are presented to verify the theoretical analysis and show the good performance of the LDG scheme for compressible wormhole propagation.
