In this paper, we generalize Young's inequality for locally compact quantum groups and obtain some results for extremal pairs of Young's inequality and extremal functions of Hausdorff-Young inequality.

In this article, we classify all standard invariants that can arise from a composed inclusion of an A3with an A4subfactor. More precisely, if N⊂P is an A3subfactor and P⊂M is an A4subfactor, then only four standard invariants can arise from the composed inclusion N⊂M. We answer a question posed by Bisch and Haagerup in 1994. The techniques of this paper also show that there are exactly four standard invariants for the composed inclusion of two A4subfactors.

We show that there are 2^{2^{ℵ_0}} different closed ideals in the Banach algebra L(L_p(0,1)),1<p≠2<∞. This solves a problem in A. Pietsch’s 1978 book “Operator Ideals”. The proof is quite different from other methods of producing closed ideals in the space of bounded operators on a Banach space; in particular, the ideals are not contained in the strictly singular operators and yet do not contain projections onto subspaces that are non-Hilbertian. We give a criterion for a space with an unconditional basis to have 2^{2^{ℵ_0}} closed ideals in terms of the existence of a single operator on the space with some special asymptotic properties. We then show that for 1<q<2 the space Xq of Rosenthal, which is isomorphic to a complemented subspace of L_q(0,1), admits such an operator.

It is proved that the natural embedding of a separable Banach space$X$into the corresponding Bourgain–Pisier space extends $\mathcal{L}_{\infty}$ -valued operators.

A time-dependent HermiteGalerkin spectral method (THGSM) is investigated in this paper for the nonlinear convectiondiffusion equations in the unbounded domains. The time-dependent scaling factor and translating factor are introduced in the definition of the generalized Hermite functions (GHF). As a consequence, the THGSM based on these GHF has many advantages, not only in theoretical proofs, but also in numerical implementations. The stability and spectral convergence of our proposed method have been established in this paper. The Kortewegde VriesBurgers (KdVB) equation and its special cases, including the heat equation and the Burgers equation, as the examples, have been numerically solved by our method. The numerical results are presented, and it surpasses the existing methods in accuracy. Our theoretical proof of the spectral convergence has been supported by the numerical results.
