In this article we study a differential algebra of modular-type functions attached to the periods of a one-parameter family of Calabi–Yau varieties which is mirror dual to the universal family of quintic threefolds. Such an algebra is generated by seven functions satisfying functional and differential equations in parallel to the modular functional equations of classical Eisenstein series and the Ramanujan differential equation. Our result is the first example of automorphic-type functions attached to varieties whose period domain is not Hermitian symmetric. It is a reformulation and realization of a problem of Griffiths from the seventies on the existence of automorphic functions for the moduli of polarized Hodge structures.

In this paper, we establish the optimal error estimate of the particle method for a family of nonlinear evolutionary partial differential equations, or the so-called b-equation. The b-equation, including the Camassa-Holm equation and the Degasperis-Procesi equation, has many applications in diverse scientific fields. The particle method is an approximation of the b-equation in Lagrangian representation. We also prove short-time existence, uniqueness and regularity of the Lagrangian representation of the b-equation.

In this paper, we study some relation between the cocenter H(G) of the Hecke algebra H (G) of a connected reductive group G over a nonarchimedean local field and the cocenter H(M) of its Levi subgroups M. Given any Newton component of H(G), we construct the induction map i from the corresponding Newton component of H(M) to it. We show that this map is an isomorphism. This leads to the BernsteinLusztig type presentation of the cocenter H(G), which generalizes the work [11] on the affine Hecke algebras. We also show that the map i we constructed is adjoint to the Jacquet functor.

A bstract 6d superconformal field theories (SCFTs) are the SCFTs in the highest possible dimension. They can be geometrically engineered in F-theory by compactifying on non-compact elliptic Calabi-Yau manifolds. In this paper we focus on the class of SCFTs whose base geometry is determined by 2 curves intersecting according to ADE Dynkin diagrams and derive the corresponding mirror Calabi-Yau manifold. The mirror geometry is uniquely determined in terms of the mirror curve which has also an interpretation in terms of the Seiberg-Witten curve of the four-dimensional theory arising from torus compactification. Adding the affine node of the ADE quiver to the base geometry, we connect to recent results on SYZ mirror symmetry for the A case and provide a physical interpretation in terms of little string theory.
