Using the complex coloring method, we present the graphs of the quantum dilogarithm function Gb(z) and visualize its analytic and asymptotic behaviours. In particular we demonstrate the limiting process when the modified Gb(z)→Γ(z) as b→0. We also survey the relations of Gb(z) with different variants of the quantum dilogarithm function.

We consider an electron with an anomalous magnetic moment, <i>g</i> &gt; &gt; 2, confined to a plane and interacting with a nonhomogeneous magnetic field <i>B</i>, and investigate the corresponding Pauli Hamiltonian. We prove a lower bound on the number of bound states for the case when <i>B</i> is of a compact support and the related flux is <i>N</i> + <i></i>, <i></i>(0, 1]. In particular, there are at least <i>N</i> + 1 bound states if <i>B</i> does not change sign. We also consider the situation where the magnetic field is due to a localized rotationally symmetric electric current vortex in the plane. In this case the flux is zero; there is a pair of bound states for a weak coupling, and higher orbital-momentum spin-down states appearing as the current strength increases.

We study the spherical cone metrics on surfaces from the point of view of inner angles. A rigidity result is obtained. The existence of spherical cone metric of Delaunay type is also established.

Nonlinear dynamics of wave packets in parity-time-symmetric optical lattices near the phase-transition point is analytically studied. A nonlinear Klein–Gordon equation is derived for the envelope of these wave packets. A variety of phenomena known to exist in this envelope equation are shown to also exist in the full equation, including wave blowup, periodic bound states, and solitary wave solutions.
