We prove that uniform random quadrangulations of the sphere with$n$faces, endowed with the usual graph distance and renormalized by$n$^{−1/4}, converge as$n$→$∞$in distribution for the Gromov–Hausdorff topology to a limiting metric space. We validate a conjecture by Le Gall, by showing that the limit is (up to a scale constant) the so-called$Brownian map$, which was introduced by Marckert–Mokkadem and Le Gall as the most natural candidate for the scaling limit of many models of random plane maps. The proof relies strongly on the concept of$geodesic stars$in the map, which are configurations made of several geodesics that only share a common endpoint and do not meet elsewhere.

In this paper, we will establish a regularity theory for the Kähler–Ricci flow on Fano$n$-manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded in$L$^{$p$}-norm for some $${p > n}$$ . Using this regularity theory, we will also solve a long-standing conjecture for dimension 3. As an application, we give a new proof of the Yau–Tian–Donaldson conjecture for Fano 3-manifolds. The results have been announced in [45].

The quantitative adiabatic condition (QAC), or quantitative condition, is a convenient (a priori) tool for estimating the adiabaticity of quantum evolutions. However, the range of the applicability of QAC is not well understood. It has been shown that QAC can become insufficient for guaranteeing the validity of the adiabatic approximation, but under what conditions the QAC would become necessary has become controversial. Furthermore, it is believed that the inability for the QAC to reveal quantum adiabaticity is due to induced resonant transitions. However, it is not clear how to quantify these transitions in general. Here we present a progress to this problem by finding an exact relation that can reveal how transition amplitudes are related to QAC directly. As a posteriori condition for quantum adiabaticity, our result is universally applicable to any (nondegenerate) quantum system and gives a clear picture on how QAC could become insufficient or unnecessary for the adiabatic approximation, which is a problem that has gained considerable interest in the literature in recent years

This paper is concerned with an interior penalty discontinuous Galerkin (IPDG) method based on a flexible type of non-polynomial local approximation space for the Helmholtz equation with varying wavenumber. The local approximation space consists of multiple polynomial-modulated phase functions which can be chosen according to the phase information of the solution. We obtain some {approximation} properties for this space and \textit{a prior} $L^2$ error estimates for the \textit{h}-convergence of the IPDG method using duality argument. We also provide ample numerical examples to show that, building phase information into the local spaces often gives more accurate results comparing to using the standard polynomial spaces.
