With the advance in virtual reality applications, garment industry has strived for new developments. This paper reviews state-of-the-art CAD methods in 3D garment design. A large range of techniques are selected and organized into several key modules which form the core of a 3D garment design technology platform. In each module, basic techniques are presented first. Then advanced developments are systematically discussed and commented. The selected key modules – digital human modeling, 3D garment design and modification, numerical integration of draping, 2D pattern generation, geometric details modeling, parallel computation and GPU acceleration – are discussed in turn. Major challenges and solutions that have been addressed over the years are discussed. Finally, some of the ensuing challenges in 3D garment CAD technologies are outlined.

Because of its importance in number theory and singularity theory, the problem of nding a polynomial sharp upper estimate of the number of positive integral points in an n- dimensional (n  3) polyhedron has received attention by a lot of mathematicians. S. S.-T. Yau proposed the upper estimate, so-called the Yau Number Theoretic Conjecture. The previous results on the Yau Number Theoretic Conjecture in low dimension cases (n  6) have been proved by using the sharp GLY conjecture. Unfortunately, it is only valid in low dimension. The Yau Number Theoretic Conjecture for n = 7 has been shown with a completely new method in [19]. In this paper, the similar method has been applied to prove the Yau Number Theoretic Conjecture for n = 8, but with more meticulous analyses. The main method of proof is summing existing sharp upper bounds for the number of points in 7-dimensional simplexes over the cross sections of eight-dimensional simplex. This reasearch project paves the way for the proof of a fully general sharp upper bound for the number of lattice points in a simplex. It also moves the mathematical community one step closer towards proving the Yau Number Theoretic Conjecture in full generality. As an application, we give a sharper estimate of the Dickman-De Bruijn function (x; y) for 5  y < 23, compared with the result obtained by Ennola.

Intrinsic Delaunay triangulation (IDT) naturally generalizes Delaunay triangulation from R^2 to curved surfaces. Due to many favorable properties, the IDT whose vertex set includes all mesh vertices is of particular interest in polygonal mesh processing. To date, the only way for constructing such IDT is the edge-flipping algorithm, which iteratively flips non-Delaunay edges to become locally Delaunay. Although this algorithm is conceptually simple and guarantees to terminate in finite steps, it has no known time complexity and may also produce triangulations containing faces with only two edges. This article develops a new method to obtain proper IDTs on manifold triangle meshes.We first compute a geodesic Voronoi diagram (GVD) by taking all mesh vertices as generators and then find its dual graph. The sufficient condition for the dual graph to be a proper triangulation is that all Voronoi cells satisfy the so-called closed ball property. To guarantee the closed ball property everywhere, a certain sampling criterion is required. For Voronoi cells that violate the closed ball property, we fix them by computing topologically safe regions, inwhich auxiliary sites can be addedwithout changing the topology of theVoronoi diagram beyond them.Given a meshwith n vertices, we prove that by adding at most O(n) auxiliary sites, the computed GVD satisfies the closed ball property, and hence its dual graph is a proper IDT. Our method has a theoretical worst-case time complexity O(n^2 + tn log n), where t is the number of obtuse angles in the mesh. Computational results show that it empirically runs in linear time on real-world models.

For projective conifold transitions between Calabi-Yau threefolds X and Y, with X close to Y in the moduli, we show that the combined information provided by the A model (Gromov–Witten theory in all genera) and B model (variation of Hodge structures) on X, linked along the vanishing cycles, determines the corresponding combined information on Y. Similar result holds in the reverse direction when linked with the exceptional curves.
