For a real analytic periodic function 𝜙: ℝ→ℝ, an integer 𝑏≥2 and 𝜆∈(1/𝑏,1), we prove the following dichotomy for the Weierstrass-type function 𝑊(𝑥)=∑_{𝑛≥0} 𝜆^𝑛 𝜙(𝑏^𝑛 𝑥): Either W(x) is real analytic, or the Hausdorff dimension of its graph is equal to 2+log𝑏𝜆. Furthermore, given b and 𝜙, the former alternative only happens for finitely many 𝜆 unless 𝜙 is constant.

The GKZ system for the Hesse pencil of elliptic curves has more solutions than the period integrals. In this work we give different realizations and interpretations of the extra solution, in terms of oscillating integral, Eichler integral, chain integral on the elliptic curve, limit of a period of a certain compact Calabi-Yau threefold geometry, etc. We also highlight the role played by the orbifold singularity on the moduli space and its relation to the GKZ system.

We define piecewise continuous almost automorphic (p.c.a.a.) functions in the manners of Bochner, Bohr and Levitan, respectively, to describe almost automorphic motions in impulsive systems, and prove that with certain prefixed possible discontinuities they are equivalent to quasi-uniformly continuous Stepanov almost automorphic ones. Spatially almost automorphic sets on the line, which serve as suitable objects containing discontinuities of p.c.a.a. functions, are characterized in the manners of Bochner, Bohr and Levitan, respectively, and shown to be equivalent. Two Favard's theorems are established to illuminate the importance and convenience of p.c.a.a. functions in the study of almost periodically forced impulsive systems.

We show that $\lim_{t \to 0} e^{it\Delta}f(x) = f(x)$ almost everywhere for all $f \in H^s (\mathbb{R}^2)$ provided that $s>1/3$. This result is sharp up to the endpoint. The proof uses polynomial partitioning and decoupling.

The classical Fej\'er's theorem is a criterion for pointwise convergence of Fourier series on the unit circle. We generalize it to locally compact groups.

Motivated by the works of Liu, we provide a unified approach to find Appell-Lerch series and Hecke-type series representations for mock theta functions. We establish a number of parameterized identities with two parameters $a$ and $b$. Specializing the choices of $(a,b)$, we not only give various known and new representations for the mock theta functions of orders 2, 3, 5, 6 and 8, but also present many other interesting identities. We find that some mock theta functions of different orders are related to each other, in the sense that their representations can be deduced from the same $(a,b)$-parameterized identity. Furthermore, we introduce the concept of false Appell-Lerch series. We then express the Appell-Lerch series, false Appell-Lerch series and Hecke-type series in this paper using the building blocks $m(x,q,z)$ and $f_{a,b,c}(x,y,q)$ introduced by Hickerson and Mortenson, as well as $\overline{m}(x,q,z)$ and $\overline{f}_{a,b,c}(x,y,q)$ introduced in this paper. We also show the equivalences of our new representations for several mock theta functions and the known representations.

We study L^p inequalities that sharpen the triangle inequality for sums of N functions in L^p.

We obtain improved fractional Poincaré inequalities in John domains of a metric space (X,d) endowed with a doubling measure μ under some mild regularity conditions on the measure μ. We also give sufficient conditions on a bounded domain to support fractional Poincaré type inequalities in this setting.

In this paper, we obtain some new Lyapunov-type inequalities for a class of even-order linear differential equations, the results are new and generalize and improve some early results in this field.

This paper gives a classification of first order polynomial differential operators of form $\mathscr{X} = X_1(x_1,x_2)\delta_1 + X_2(x_1,x_2)\delta_2$, $(\delta_i = \partial/\partial x_i)$. The classification is given through the order of an operator that is defined in this paper. Let $X=\mathscr{X}y$ to be the differential polynomial associated with $\mathscr{X}$, the order of $\mathscr{X}$, $\mathrm{ord}(\mathscr{X})$, is defined as the order of a differential ideal $\Lambda$ of differential polynomials that is a nontrivial expansion of the ideal $\{X\}$ and with the lowest order. In this paper, we prove that there are only four possible values for the order of a differential operator, $0$, $1$, $2$, $3$, or $\infty$. Furthermore, when the order is finite, the expansion $\Lambda$ is generated by $X$ and a differential polynomial $A$, which can be obtained through a rational solution of a partial differential equation that is given explicitly in this paper. When the order is infinite, the expansion $\Lambda$ is just the unit ideal. In additional, if, and only if, the order of $\mathscr{X}$ is $0$, $1$, or $2$, the polynomial differential equation associating with $\mathscr{X}$ has Liouvillian first integrals. Examples and connections with Godbilon-Vey sequences are also discussed.

Let $f(x)=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}\frac{1}{n!}q^{n(n-1)/2}x^n$ ($0<q<1$) be the deformed exponential function. It is known that the zeros of $f(x)$ are real and form a negative decreasing sequence $(x_k)$ ($k\ge 1$). We investigate the complete asymptotic expansion for $x_{k}$ and prove that for any $n\ge1$, as $k\to \infty$, \begin{align*} x_k=-kq^{1-k}\Big(1+\sum_{i=1}^{n}C_i(q)k^{-1-i}+o(k^{-1-n})\Big), \end{align*} where $C_i(q)$ are some $q$ series which can be determined recursively. We show that each $C_{i}(q)\in \mathbb{Q}[A_0,A_1,A_2]$, where $A_{i}=\sum_{m=1}^{\infty}m^i\sigma(m)q^m$ and $\sigma(m)$ denotes the sum of positive divisors of $m$. When writing $C_{i}$ as a polynomial in $A_0, A_1$ and $A_2$, we find explicit formulas for the coefficients of the linear terms by using Bernoulli numbers. Moreover, we also prove that $C_{i}(q)\in \mathbb{Q}[E_2,E_4,E_6]$, where $E_2$, $E_4$ and $E_6$ are the classical Eisenstein series of weight 2, 4 and 6, respectively.

Differential Galois theory has played important roles in the the- ory of integrability of linear differential equation. In this paper we will extend the theory to nonlinear case and study the integrability of the first order non- linear differential equation. We will define for the differential equation the differential Galois group, will study the structure of the group, and will prove the equivalent between the existence of the Liouvillian first integral and the solvability of the corresponding differential Galois group.

The class of generating functions for completely monotone sequences (moments of finite positive measures on $[0,1]$) has an elegant characterization as the class of Pick functions analytic and positive on $(-\infty,1)$. We establish this and another such characterization and develop a variety of consequences. In particular, we characterize generating functions for moments of convex and concave probability distribution functions on $[0,1]$, and we provide a simple analytic proof that for any real $p,r>0$, the Fuss-Catalan or Raney numbers $\frac{r}{pn+r}\binom{pn+r}{n}$, $n=0,1,\ldots$ are the moments of a probability distribution on some interval $[0,\tau]$ if and only if $p\ge1$ and $p\ge r$.

This paper studies the moment boundedness of solutions of linear stochastic delay differential equations with distributed delay. For a linear stochastic delay differential equation, the rst moment stability is known to be identical to that of the corresponding deterministic delay differential equation. However, boundedness of the second moment is complicated and depends on the stochastic terms. In this paper, the characteristic function of the equation is obtained through techniques of the Laplace transform. From the characteristic equation, suf cient conditions for the second moment to be bounded or unbounded are proposed.
